he area around Bryson City is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. Deep Creek tubing beckons guests to float down the clear, cool waters. Less than a mile away from the cabin is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with its opportunities for tubing, picnicking and hiking. Two miles away, enjoy downtown Bryson City with its shops and restaurants.

For fabulous Smoky Mountain vacations, other nearby attractions and activities include the Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrah's Casino. You can learn all about the Cherokee Trail of Tears by experiencing the Unto These Hills outdoor drama and the Oconaluftee Indian Village. And the southern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway in just north of Cherokee.

Also in Cherokee, the Santa's Land amusement park provides great entertainment for the kids.

There's boating and fishing on Fontana Lake, with the highest dam east of the Rockies. There's whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, and excursion rides on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad; plus gem mining, mountain biking, and trout fishing and horseback riding.

For railroad enthusiasts, the Smoky Mountain Trains model train museum has one of the largest Lionel layouts in the south, with more than a mile of track.

Asheville and the Biltmore Estate are just an hour's drive from Bryson City.

In late-June, late-August and mid-October, the Bryson City-based gospel group The Inspirations hold their Singing in the Mountains festivals just outside of Bryson City.
